Transit (T) Visa for Georgia (2026)
The transit visa (category T) is a short-term Georgian visa for passing through Georgia — up to 10 days — on the way to a third country. It is one of the five visa categories. You only need it if your nationality requires a visa and you are genuinely transiting rather than visiting; travellers on the visa-free list do not need a transit visa. The transit visa (category T) is the simplest of Georgia’s visa categories. It is intended for one purpose only: transiting through Georgia on the way to a third country.

A transit visa is issued to foreign nationals who need to pass through the territory of Georgia in order to travel to a third country.
It is a short-term visa and permits a stay in Georgia of up to 10 calendar days. It is intended only for genuine transit and is not designed for tourism, business or other short-term visits.
When you do not need a transit visa
You generally do not need a transit visa if:
- your nationality qualifies for Visa-Free Entry; or
- you are otherwise entitled to enter Georgia without a visa under Georgian law.
If you intend to spend time in Georgia rather than simply passing through, the transit visa is not the appropriate category. Instead, you should rely on Visa-Free Entry (if eligible) or apply for an Ordinary (C) Visa, typically C1 for tourism.
How to apply
Foreign nationals who are eligible for the e-Visa programme may apply online through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ e-Visa Portal, without visiting a Georgian embassy or consulate.
